How the deductions work
The three taxes that come off every Irish payslip.
Income tax — 20% on the first €44,000, 40% above (single person standard rate band). Tax credits (€3,750 for a single PAYE worker) are subtracted from the gross tax.
USC (Universal Social Charge) — 0.5% to €12,012, 2% to €25,760, 4% to €70,044, 4.5% above.
PRSI — 4% of gross for most employees earning above €352 a week (≈€18,304/year).
Important — indicative only
This calculator gives a quick indicative estimate using simplified 2025/2026 bands for a single PAYE worker with no pension contribution. It does not account for pension relief, the married/civil-partner rate band, additional credits, BIK, the €70,044 USC reduced rate (medical card holders), PRSI credit taper, or any Budget changes. Always confirm your real figures with the Revenue tax calculator or your payroll provider before making decisions.
